Time for a refresh

I say this everytime but with Belgium drawing ever nearer, I really need to make a concious effort to be updating this more. I plan to use this space as an area to inform my friends and family of how my time in Belgium is going, but also to discuss any assignments or interesting subjects which I will be currently studying. So I really am trying to get into the habbit of regular posts.

With that being said, the first piece of news I have is that I received a 2.1 in my Master’s degree and am due to graduate in the next few weeks. This is a big relief for me as I constantly mess up in exams and was afraid that this inability wreck my chances of actually succeeding this year, however I am really happy with the result.

Secondly, I don’t know about you but I’m getting pretty tired of LulzSec, mainly because I can’t work out if they are terrorists or revolutionaries. Their new #AntiSec campaign is a twisted solution to the problem of corruption in the worlds governments and is pretty much an act of war as far as the US in concerned. Don’t get me wrong, I believe that the corruption should be ousted, but is this really the best way to do it? I’m slightly concerned about the colateral damage this cyberwar could have.

I like the internet and I don’t particularly want to see it destroyed by the few radicalists who go about things the wrong way.

That Being Said…

#AntiSec will be an interesting campaign. While I do not plan on taking part personally, I will watch it unfold with the greatest interest. It might fail, but it also might just suceed, and change the world.

Halo 4 – Hint?

While revising the more annoying aspects of DSP this morning I was linked to this twitter account which seems to be posting some very odd tweets, along with some private youtube videos claiming to be information dumps…

So far there has been six videos all accompanied with the information:

—ARCHIVED DATA–
\\LOG ENTRY–J.BITZER–
\\LOG RECORDED AND/OR UPLOADED–9/13/2554–
\\ENTRY TYPE–PLANETARY INFORMATION–
\\OTHER PARTIES WITHIN ENTRY–NONE-

The twitter account is linked to Bungie and the videos being posted seem to follow a pattern of a journey. If you cant be bothered going through twitter, here are the videos so far from first to most recent (embedding doesnt want to work):

Guess you can make your own mind up but interesting none the less.

Greetz to DarthBill for passing this on to me :)

Aliens vs Predator

Have you played this game yet? You really should.

If you have a PC, with a DirectX 11 compatible card, then I envy you because this game looks amazing on a DirectX 9 card and I cannot even begin to imagine how much better it will look on DX11.

So far I have been working my way through the Alien campaign, and it really is wonderful. There is something about running around a building as a wall crawling Xenomorph, clinging to ceilings and dropping down bringing an end to humans with guns..

And the gore…well there is rather a lot of it and although gore has never really had a major, stomach wrenching affect to me, I can see why some people are thinking that this is one of the goriest games about…as the Alien, to tend to rip out human larynxes and stick your acid-dripping tail through some poor bastards eye…

Still kinda cool though, in an amazingly sick way…

In other news, I am absolutely skint…like were talking barely enough money to cover bills here…I can’t wait to be paid!

I blame you credit card. DAMN YOU!

Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers XBLA Game.

So Wizards of the coast have released a 3D Magic: The Gathering Game. I checked out (briefly) the Duels of the Planeswalkers demo on XBL this evening and was actually rather impressed. Its basically a 3D version of the actual Magic card game. The advantage is obviously you don’t have to go out and buy a set deck and it also look like it has a Multiplayer built in so you can play again a friend.

For those of you not familiar with Magic: The Gathering, its a trading card game in which you play the role of a planeswalker – a very powerful Mage capable of moving though the various dimensions of the Multiverse (Magical Universe). There are 5 main colours of Magic and the trading card games allow you to either specialise or diversify (I’m not sure about the 360 game yet though).

It does have a full campaign mode and it does look rather good. There is a very intense tutorial session as well which quickly but simply runs through the basics of the game.

So what’s in it for Magic veterans? Well, for someone like me who has been playing Magic for a while but is still unfamiliar with the more intricate rules of the games, there is a lot to learn. There is also some excellent artwork and some great cards.

Duels of the Planeswalkers costs 800 of those elusive XBox live points, and is available for download now!

StarCraft II

So when we first started StarCraft II had just been announced. Now, however, the game is heading into public BETA testing. These two part of an interview with one of the games designers show off the direction the game is heading in along with some sweeet shots of new Zerg units…
