Pre-Term Cleaning

So I grabbed my trusty MacBook Pro and gave it a thorough cleaning out…even though Uni doesn’t start for two month, I like to do this every once in a while.

It basically consists of all the crap (a LOT of it congregates) being backed up onto My 3TB RAID 5 NAS and then the Mac being wiped. Then I start from scratch with the latest leopard and install only the basics.

Normally though I let all the install files mount up, but this time I am trying a slight different approach of installing everything from the NAS that I need and then anything else I do install, I either delete the install image or alternatively back it up onto the NAS if I think its important enough.

So in other fun news I picked my 3 drunk sisters (well one is like a surrogate sister – my sisters best friend) from town tonight. One of them ran away, one of them took ages to find and the other was just drunker than I had ever seen her.

Both the Fiona’s (That’s my sister and her best friend) threw up a lot. One in front of the City Hall and the other in my driveway. Thankfully both of them missed my car =:D

So it seems fun was had by all. Jonny and I played Magic the Gathering on XBLA for most of today so s’all good.

Ooo, I have to go into hospital for a few days in August to get a bunch of teeth ripped out and get braces (braces at 21, my God…)but looks like they are putting me under general anesthesia for it which is good and bad. Last few times I was under general (sleep) I had the most horrible recoveries. In fairness it was far far far more serious that getting some teeth out, so maybe this will be ok.

Thats about it from me so take care and congrats if you read this far…

P.S. Fiona (non-sister) stole my bed because it was where she landed…so I’m in the spare room for the night.

The Sky is Falling…

Or at least, it should be under the weight of all the rain we have had here recently. I was out on Thursday and it was just torrential.

So its been a while since I have written anything and its simply becuase I have had so much to do! I though summer would be easy but it seems I’m getting all the work to do… suppose thats what I get for not having a job. Hopefully that will change soon becuase I’ve applied for a few jobs.

In other news, if I ever get any time I might try and work on some new content for the site but honestly I’m not sure if I will have the time once I got back to uni. Part of me wants to relaunch the forums but I don’t really see a point yet.

BUT…

SUPER HAPPY FUN NEWS!

Super-zero (thats us :D ) may be getting a co-op webcomic! That’s right both Jonny Shields and Greg Lee have expressed an interest in hosting a webcomic here! So we shall see how that goes!

Other than that I found a moth graveyard behind the fans of my computer…I hope WaterCooling UK hurry up and get my case panel back to me!!

Well thats about it for this time. Going to try and get 3 updates a week at least in to keep the site content fresh!

Oooo before I got I caught the Nothern Irish premiere (thats to CityBeat for giving us free tickets) of G-Force. Honestly, it was very much aimed at kids. Movies like Ice Age and Shrek normally include innuendo and jokes that adults can find funny, that won’t corrupt small children. This movie was a very young humour, but some great 3D effects and a relateively enjoyable storyline. So might be worth a watch if there is nothing else on!

Off to the Harry Potter Premiere

Well, off to the Northern Irish premiere anyway. I have given into the masses and dressed up for the occasion. With the Help of my two best friends http://babies-are-crunchy.deviantart.com and http://jonnyshields.deviantart.com I put together this killer Death Eater costume.

Greg cast my face and Jonny painted the mask and this is the finished result. The want is made from mod-rocked bamboo. Its a bit old school Harry Potter but its not bad in my opionion

No Wireless!

GAH! So I have been without wireless for 4 days now and its really really rather annoying.

However this PC has Internet although I’m rarely at it so this is just a quick filler so that you know I’m not dead and that I willbe back…hopefully on Monday if my router arrives.

Games News

Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers XBLA Game.

So Wizards of the coast have released a 3D Magic: The Gathering Game. I checked out (briefly) the Duels of the Planeswalkers demo on XBL this evening and was actually rather impressed. Its basically a 3D version of the actual Magic card game. The advantage is obviously you don’t have to go out and buy a set deck and it also look like it has a Multiplayer built in so you can play again a friend.

For those of you not familiar with Magic: The Gathering, its a trading card game in which you play the role of a planeswalker – a very powerful Mage capable of moving though the various dimensions of the Multiverse (Magical Universe). There are 5 main colours of Magic and the trading card games allow you to either specialise or diversify (I’m not sure about the 360 game yet though).

It does have a full campaign mode and it does look rather good. There is a very intense tutorial session as well which quickly but simply runs through the basics of the game.

So what’s in it for Magic veterans? Well, for someone like me who has been playing Magic for a while but is still unfamiliar with the more intricate rules of the games, there is a lot to learn. There is also some excellent artwork and some great cards.

Duels of the Planeswalkers costs 800 of those elusive XBox live points, and is available for download now!
