A game about the power of metal? Hell yeah! Saving the world and rocking out. Featuring metal gods Rob Halford, Lemmy Kilmister, and Ozzy Osbourne. I’d say more but a video is a much better way to show off this piece of awesomeness.

So the database server has been under “excessive load” according to Streamline so I have been unable to get onto the site in days, however the problem has now been fixed, and I now have a redundancy I place lest it happen again…Huurah for that.
Right now I am also surfing the new Wi-Fi system that’s being deployed at Queens University (where I study) which, although it was a bit complicated to hook up my MacBook Pro to, is actually rather speedy and smooth (although they have blocked MSN ports
).
On the web-comic front – there are some in the works I am told, although I’m not sure if its going to be one artist or two yet.
And just to give you all something to drool over, Deuwin (my web goto-guy and my very good friend) pointed this out too me the other day…and boy was I found wanting…
Images taken from the exclusive review at MaximumPC, because I can’t afford one…
I think this is an awesome design. I can’t wait to see what the cooling potential of a case like this is, because with individual heat-source isolated, directed airflow will be so much easier, and hot-spots should be practically non-exisistant, or at least have no effect on the case ambient temperature.
I wish I had more money…
So I picked up my copy of Snow Leopard at the weekend and installed it to get some very nice surprises, including 12GB of my Hard Drive back, a new Quick Time, improved Exposé and overall snappier performance.
Today however, Apple rolled out iTunes 9 to end users which, I must admit, is looking rather well. It’s obvious from a first glance they that have tweaked it graphically (most likely to match in with Snow Leopards modified GUI) including a new white background when viewing by album artwork and an enhanced 3D effect on the buttons and progress bars. However, they have also added some new features like Home Sharing, which allows an entire family (or network) to share all the purchased music from one iTunes store account across an entire network.
Overall it does seem to have done the Snow Leopard thing, by making everything snappier and generally faster. It’s just a pity they didn’t use the same very pretty black skin that Quick Time has…
Yeah, total lack of posting..But I have an excuse reason,
I was rigorously testing World Of Warcraft: Wrath of The Lich King…
Does that hold up? Well, I installed the game and defaulted it to the private servers *Big Shout to the guys at WoWScape for doing a super job* and am now level 20. Yes you do level up a bit faster but it still took me a fair amount of time…but its really good and if you like RPG’s and haven’t tried out WoW yet – I thoroughly suggest it.
That and the new “Cataclysm” expansion was announced last week which makes for exciting time in the World Of Warcraft as everything is about to be torn apart from the inside out!
As for me, still no word from any employers but I remain hopeful that I will get a job with G4S as I was pretty much interviewed and enrolled then and there…
Oh, also my XBox red-ringed and is currently in Germany being sorted. It’s odd but it seemed to happen around the same time as about 12 other people I know (Including our own Deuwin…) so must be M$ version of the millennium bug…it’s just been released late.
No surprises there…
So yeah, I didn’t get lazy with my post’s, I just was rather busy for the rest of the week. I just got back to Saintfield this evening so I thought I would give a sum up of the last 5 days in England. Thursday was spending enjoying the lovely weather and spending some time pottering around Aston with Kendal and Ashley – however this was cut short due to the iminent arrival of Ashleys better half back into the country – so we spent the rest of the day watching X-Files. I might as well explain now that in general this is what we did with our free time…Season 1 and 2 are now watched and out of the way…
But Kendal’s totally not into it…
Friday we took a ncie little top-down trip to Morley which is just North of Derby where Kendal used to live. Was nice taking the car out on the country roads…however there was a lot of driving up and down and up and down becuase we got lost…We did however end up in a town called Stanley, which I though rahter approprite, what with it being my name and all (pictures to come).
Friday night involved lots of trawling around Derby, avoiding the local whores (YES I AM TALKING ABOUT YOU GIRLS DRESSED IN SWAT OUTFITS THAT SEEMED TO FOLLOW US AROUND!! First at Revolution then at Scream…). We started off the night in a bar called Revolution (Club upstairs, not my type of music but seemed like a nice place anyway), then moved onto a very crowded pub called the Beddington Carriage (good music played here but lots of people). From there we went to Mosh, which is 3 bars, each on a different floor. Rock/pop punk on the ground, metal on the 2nd and sorta old skool on the 3rd. Just to point out though, the 2nd floor (Metal/Industrial) was one of the best Metal mixes I have ever heard. From there we headed to Screm, which definately wasn’t my scene at all, so I spent most of the night in the beer garden (not drinking due to lack of monies) and avoiding the public in general. Scream clsoed at two so we headed back to Mosh for an hour of seriously heavy metal and headbanging before heading home at 3am. Over all was a rather good night.
Saturday and Sunday involved X-Files and Gaming (we got a 14 – day Wold of Warcraft trail and decided to try it out together… Really enjoyed it despite being warned off by several people. Kendal loves it too!!) although we also took a trip to the Melbourne resevoir, where we paddled our toes in the water, admired the swans and generally enjoyed each others compnay.
Monday = lots of walking…walked to Elvaston, then to Elvaston Castle, Then round Aston (wood carrying ensued) but finished off the night with a chimnea and everyone all huddled round it.
And today I’m home… And Kendal is joing me on Thurday – but before then I have to get 4 teeth ripped out, so I’m going to be in hospital for the next two days…only one night though thank goodness…
Maybe I can blog on my phone…
OK, So while I wasn’t particularly busy yesterday afternoon, I was using my laptop to finish watching the first season of the X-Files… So this is basically a round up of the week so far (thats Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Well, there isn’t much to be said for Monday. We were in the house all day because the weather was pretty foul, so I persuaded Kendal to write my blog post for me (which was extremely kind of her) and then we watched some X-Files…Something which she will deny all knowledge of. Its not like she’s really getting into it or anything…
So that pretty much sum up Monday in a nutshell! Tuesday was a lot more interesting with a foray into town and the spending of what little money I have. Including an anniversary present for my dearest and a couple of awesome t-shirts for me. The evening was round off with another party – this one at a beautiful house (barn conversion) in the middle of the country. And what fun it was as the party (and clear skies) happened to coincide with the peak of the Persied meteor shower. We lay outside on the trampoline (with blankets and such to keep us warm) and stared at the sky. In an hour we saw collectively about 25 meteors, some quite bright, leaving very visible trails, and others less so, but still just as spectacular. And some of the people there lost their “shooting star” virginity, which is always good.
Not only was the star show entertaining but the conversation was also excellent, ranging from philosophical discussion, astrophysics and just general gossip and chat. Certainly glad I was able to catch this shower as I usually forget and end up sitting out on a cold Octobers evening on my own for the Geminids…. For some more information on this years show, check out http://iya2009.com/perseid-meteor-shower-peaks-on-tuesday.html.
After it got too cold and the conversation started to stem we headed back inside where most people began to get ready for bed (about 2am). At this point I picked up a rubix cube that had somehow made its way onto the table in the lounge. 2 1/2 hours later I had one complete side and 4 partially completed sides. Some of this can be given credit to the internet and it’s wonderful theories on solving rubix cubes (as opposed to looking up the solution I preferred to look up the general theories behind the algorithms used to solve it and try and apply the rest myself…) but to be honest I hit a pretty hard spot, and every time I tried something new I kept messing it up and had to try and rectify my mistake. I now really want a rubix cube…
Wednesday morning consisted of waking up after 4 hours of sleep and continuing my rubix cube endeavour to no avail. At this point we found a scaleletrix set and decided to have a Mini vs Subaru race…turns out the Subaru has a large magnet on its back to prevent drifting…the Mini didn’t…a short ride home in the back of a fiesta (I couldn’t have the car unfortunately) and we were home…to watch more X-Files. Now, with season one out of the way, one wonders what we might do with today…
Hey all, had yet another fantastically warm, sunny day in Tea-and-Scones Land which was great for me if not so nice for the boyfriend. I hadn’t quite appreciated the sense of freedom one has with a car, so we took the Street KA down to Elvaston Castle for a couple of hours to soak up loads of Vitamin D and poddle round the woods/gardens/lakeside.
It was also my friend Caroline’s 18th birthday so we (mainly I, actually) got all dressed up and headed down to Melbourne for lots of lovely stuff to eat and a bit of banter. It was all v nice and clean so I think we were all rather apprehensive about spilling drinks on the carpet. Despite that there was excellent service from Caroline’s two younger brothers which was v surprising given what we’d all heard about them!
Stan told me I should mention the sweet champagne about now, which was ‘amazing’ in most people’s opinions. Personally I thought it tasted like crap, but then champagne isn’t to my taste. Probably because it isn’t electric blue and an alcopop.
We also saw a bit of my friend Ashley who got the tattoo last Thursday. It’s looking a bit icky at the moment, but as soon as it scabs properly and falls off then it should be a beautiful, inky black. Can’t wait and it isn’t even etched onto my skin.
Talk soon, love.

So another lovely couple of days in England! Weather has been absolutely kick-ass thus far.
So on Friday we spend most of the day just hanging about Aston…At least I think we did… – Got given the keys to a lovely blue Street Ka on which I promptly dropped the top and took for a spin about the local roads just to get used to it. Beautiful car for country roads – seems to handle pretty well although definitely strange compared to my 106.
Friday night we were partay-ing although I seemed to fade out really really fast which was annoying. Not only that but I seemed to take an allergic reaction to something that turned me into a wheezing plague for all of Saturday. After a relaxing 2 hour walk around the beautiful canal-ways of Derbyshire I pretty much collapsed on the couch for a few hours. Seemed to help my chest a fair bit as well.
The evening was spent (boring-ly you may think) watching X-Files Season 1. Only got through about 4 episodes (3 hours worth…) but its so awesome its totally worth it. Kinda cheating as I only have one photo and its not even from the party…however it is rather cool none the less!
So it was refreshing to log on this morning and have 5 comments to moderate. Granted they were all spam but hey, at least we are getting traffic!
So I am currently in England stay with my girlfriend for the next 2 weeks. I have a convertible to drive and its not raining, so why I am inside is a question I can’t really answer. Granted, however, we don’t really have anywhere to go but I do want to take the car for a cruise just so I can get used to the handling.
Also she hasn’t complained about my beard, which can only be a good thing.
So I hope to have a picture up each day of whatever we accomplish, though I didn’t bring my camera (because I am a tard) so I am forced to use the (relatively good) camera on my PDA.
Today’s picture is taken from yesterday’s activities which involved Kendal’s friend getting a tattoo. Hope you like it!
P.S. In case any of you want a fantastically made tattoo, all hand drawn and designed on the day, check out Tradition 180 in the Guild Hall in Derby. Not only are all the staff fantastic, the main tattooist was cool AND was wearing a Fez!!
So I grabbed my trusty MacBook Pro and gave it a thorough cleaning out…even though Uni doesn’t start for two month, I like to do this every once in a while.
It basically consists of all the crap (a LOT of it congregates) being backed up onto My 3TB RAID 5 NAS and then the Mac being wiped. Then I start from scratch with the latest leopard and install only the basics.
Normally though I let all the install files mount up, but this time I am trying a slight different approach of installing everything from the NAS that I need and then anything else I do install, I either delete the install image or alternatively back it up onto the NAS if I think its important enough.
So in other fun news I picked my 3 drunk sisters (well one is like a surrogate sister – my sisters best friend) from town tonight. One of them ran away, one of them took ages to find and the other was just drunker than I had ever seen her.
Both the Fiona’s (That’s my sister and her best friend) threw up a lot. One in front of the City Hall and the other in my driveway. Thankfully both of them missed my car =:D
So it seems fun was had by all. Jonny and I played Magic the Gathering on XBLA for most of today so s’all good.
Ooo, I have to go into hospital for a few days in August to get a bunch of teeth ripped out and get braces (braces at 21, my God…)but looks like they are putting me under general anesthesia for it which is good and bad. Last few times I was under general (sleep) I had the most horrible recoveries. In fairness it was far far far more serious that getting some teeth out, so maybe this will be ok.
Thats about it from me so take care and congrats if you read this far…
P.S. Fiona (non-sister) stole my bed because it was where she landed…so I’m in the spare room for the night.
